The Golden One

English · 16 lines

Illustration for the poem The Golden One

I'm a fish in a tank with little space around,
crowded with different species with egos so profound.
I've learned to swim around within the given space,
knowing that I need to first survive than winning the race.

The good, the bad & the ugly have all lived in here,
yet I've created my own space as I had no fear.
My fins were cut and dragged to the bottom every other day,
wondering how to survive as I was not a sting ray.

Black was the shade that I wanted to be
not releasing the true color that I had in me.
A stranger walks in asking for an golden orange one
we all swam wondering who was the lucky one.

Before I could realise I was picked and was out of tank,
dropped into the fish bowl and now in a different rank.
Learn to survive and don't cry fowl
Wait for you chance and the right bowl.
